Edit Page

This file has been updated an is current with gpEasy 2.1

You can select to edit a page either in the File Manager by selecting a page you wish to edit then selecting "View & Edit Page," or when you are logged in and viewing a page you will see a red "Edit" pop up button highlighting the section you can edit when hovering over the page.

gpEasy 2.0 introduced true in-line WYSIWYG page editing with sections. When viewing a page while logged in you will see a red edit pop up button as you hover over any editable area on the page. This includes header, footer, extra content areas, menus, and page content sections.

Here's an example of what you will see.

Available sections to add

  • Editable Text Area: creates an html area that can be edited with the html editor, CKEditor. The most common section.
  • Image Gallery: creates an image gallery in the page.
  • File Inclusion: include another gpEasy page within the page or a plugin/gadget.

Editing a gallery section

The above image shows a gallery section in edit mode that was added after the first editable text area. You can easily upload and insert images. To add a caption just hover over the newly inserted image and click the edit icon that appears.

Editing a File Inclusion section

Here we are editing a "File Inclusion" section that was added after a gallery section. Notice you have two options here.

  1. File Inclusion: choose another gpEasy page to include within the current page as a section.
  2. Gadgets: add a gadget to the section. Gadgets are created by gpEasy plugins. They give added functionality to your site.

CKEditor

CKEditor is the default WYSIWYG HTML editor for gpEasy. By default CKEditor has been setup with a wide range of toolbars. If you would like to setup your own toolbars please see the CKEditor Custom Toolbar documentation. The file you will need to edit for customizing CKEditor in gpEasy is /include/js/ckeditor_config.js
*You should not alter the CKEditor config file unless you know what you are doing. This file is upgraded and therefore overwritten with each upgrade of gpEasy.

Styling CKEditor

You can apply your theme's custom CSS to CKEditor. See the True WYSIWYG page to ensure that your theme works properly with the new inline WYSIWYG editing and takes advantage of your styles.
